any of y'all run smoke switches on your trucks? my buddie has been trying to get me to do it to mine. it looks real simple to do splice a switch into the vgt sensor on the turbo. what I wanna know is what effect besides losing power while your rolling coal and wasting fuel will this have on the truck? will it throw codes?

It'll screw up the catalytic converter, DPF, etc, if your truck is equipped with them.

no truck has that stuff deleted and I was sort of thinking the same thing braxton, was just entertaining the idea.

Just wrap your air filter in saran wrap, it'll have the same effect.

Excess fuel in the combustion chamber will cause the engine to wear out prematurely.

Some things never change! My Grandfather told me about the 1 gallon oil can he had run into the exhaust of his moonshine hauler. He said you didnt have to run from the law if they couldnt see where you went.

Like drkelly said it will cause the excess fuel to "wash" the cylinder walls oil will soon start smelling like diesel fuel. When i had my 6.0 it was built good, just to say this it smoked without a smoke switch, it dyno'd 646hp and i had to change my oil every 1500 miles due to "wall wash". Don't do it. spend some money and buy a good custom program and it will smoke the right way. remember this a properly tuned performance diesel engine will smoke while building boost but once boost is achieved you should have only a slight haze.

Yeah I never did it but I was just curious. I've got an sct tuner for it sitting on the counter i'm just waiting for my head studs egr and oil delete kits to get shipped before I throw the tunes in it

Good idea not to do it. You'll be happy with the sct. I ran a sct back in the Excalibur2 days. True smoke from quality performance upgrades is easy to tell. You'll be happy you waited on the studs and get delete. The 6.0 gets a bad rep but if your willing to spend some time and money it has potential to be an awesome and reliable powerhouse. Good luck with your mods. If for some reason your not happy with your sct you should look into Spartan diesel technologies they know there stuff :)

Smoke switches are for those lacking in power lol you want smoke? Build the truck.

Planning on building it Lucas I'll prob be calling ya when I'm ready for some parts c'mon

smoke is only fun to get back at a duche (sp) that screwed with you. like ricers that ride your ass on the interstate so they can save the extra 1mpg. or when your stopped at a stop light and the guy to your right has his bass so far up his ass.
haha. sorry guys, i'm an @$$hole to those that are inconciderate (sp) to others.

I'm the same way except my truck doesn't smoke very much right now but me and a buddy are on opposite deployment schedules and he left his built Cummings with me so I drive it around some to keep it up to par and I do the same stuff. I hate the ricer guys not just because they drive ricers but bc 99% of them drive like $h1t

Lol
Let me know Baker! Ill be glad to help.
Were you planning on buying some china buffet hurley????

Smoke switchs and lope tunes will wash ur cylinder walls from electricly injecting fuel and no air to burn it i had a customer with a smoke switch on a 6.0 and it messed up the vaine position sensor witch can be a pricey fix

nothing in the world pisses me off more than some idiot in a poorly tuned oilburner blowing oil all over my vehicles. I swear id love to ride around with bottles of burnt motor oil to sling back on some of these idiots windshields. Its usually the kids with nothing in the world to hook up to and pull, just gotta have a diesel because they blow smoke.
