Does anyone know what kind of snake this is

You could, but this one ain't venomous. The Eastern Brown Snake in Australia might be what you're thinking of.

Looks like a dekays brown snake. Should be pretty small, only gets to a foot long fully grown. I usually run over a few a year when I mow the yard.

Confirm the pupils are round (not vertical slots) and the tail isn't neon green. Hard to say for sure from the photo.

Easy. Stick your hand out and let it bite you. If you get 2 larger marks from fangs, it's venomous. If not, it's okay and you can let it go.
