So I have 3 pairs of snap ring pliers....none of which are worth a :poop:. I tried to use them on my Dana 60 flange snap rings...Fail. I also tried to use them on a snap ring in my NP205...als Fail. Two of the three pairs are the expand/compress and the other pair is just expand. The won't go wide enough and are too weak. What kinda of snap ring pliers do yaul use and how to you like them?

I ground the tips of a piece of shit pair of welding pliers to fit the holes on your average larger snap-ring. Think u-joint retainer ring. Work great.

Booya..Here are the ones that the midget has...me likes
$53 but well worth the money

Cheaps from slowes. I think we're discussing operator error here:fuck-you:

I have the cheap0s from lowes...well they were like 23 bucks. They won't expand wide enough...and act like the tips are going to snap off.

I have a Matco P24A snap ring plier which has worked very well for me, for along time, on about all the different model trannys. They have also worked very well on the larger T18, NP435, and Muncie boxes. A good friend of mine has a plier from Snap-On which also works very well. I will tell you that the ones the parts houses have aren't worth the money.

Edit: Oooops! I didn't read the first post very well. :shaking:

For the type ring you are talking about, I have a set of heavy-duty interchangeable tip pliers I got at NAPA. They are especially made for the larger rings. The screwdriver like handle turns to open and close them. I haven't found anything yet that they wont work on.

I bought two different pairs when I was installing my SYE. Neither of them would do the job. Ended up borrowing a pair of Snap Ons and they did in 5 minutes what I had spent hours on with the others.

just call snappy. he'll get you what you need. I have a couple sets of hand-me-down Snap On ones and they are sweet. I have a couple pairs of Craftsman ones and they are OK but not as nice or don't work as good as the Snap On ones.

I bought a 12 piece set of mac snap ring pliers from a mechanic getting out of the business. I paid $30. New, $280. They are awesome. No bending, breaking, loosing the rings because they fly off. I wouldn't pay $280 for them though...
