Little bro totaled his mustang. Hydroplaned right into a guardrail, bounced back in to traffic and some how found himself back in to the median. Thank God no one was hurt and Jack was able to walk away. How he didn't get hit bouncing back on to 85 I'll never know. Luckily, a state trooper was sitting on the ramp clocking people and saw the whole thing. Said my little bro was doing at least 10 under, and the accident was just a light car and an inexperienced driver getting on top of water and not being able to save it.

To add insult to injury...mom got a new jeep...the new policy was to start on April 10 at 12am...for whatever reason it wasn't added to the existing policy. The old policy...which this mustang was on was over at 12am April 9th. Wreck took place 6pm April 9th. Insurance said policy lapsed and they're not covering a dime and it was my fathers responsibility to identify the gap and correct it when he requested the new policy. I would think most reasonable beings would assume if one policy ends on the 9th, the next day is when the new one would begin. Oh well, such is life I suppose, sucks but still cheaper than what could have been a funeral.

So if anyone has any leads on any solid sub-2k vehicles, my brother is in the market for a beater.

And yes...once I reset the inertia switch...I did drive that off the rollback...three wheels and all.

Sucks to hear, glad he's ok. Is he going to part it out o recoup some of the expense? I have a 2000 GT listed on here if he wants another clean mustang.

Well, first of all, glad your brother is OK.
several years ago we were driving through WV in crazy rain on 81, and the exact same thing happened to my wife. Hydroplaned, slid off the right side, she overcorrected and the wheel popped it up and we spun around across 3 lanes of traffic and hit the jersey wall, bounced and hit it again. Stopped facing traffic. Miracle nobody hit us.
A local trooper said, "Yeah every time we get a hard rain, somebody hydroplanes there, the road isn't made right."

... well then fix the damn road!

Nothing else to add. Good luck. sounds to me like the insurance company is trying to weasel out. I'd look for proof (in writing) of the policy stop/start times.

Thanks for The words and the tips guys. Right now he has an offer for $1500 from a buddy of mine to buy it as is. Feel really bad for him...I remember exactly how he feels from when I totaled my 77 Damn near 12 years ago. It was his pride and joy, he saved up for it, bought it himself, and was detailing that thing almost daily. Helped him wrench on that thing too...as much as a high school budget would allow anyway.

April 9 or May 9? Because I could swear thats the same Mustang I drove past on 85 on Saturday night near China Grove as it was getting loaded onto a rollback. Either way, glad he's ok. The rain that night was bad when I was up near Thomasville. It had cleared up a little bit by the time I passed the yellow stang that I saw. There were a couple cars in the median or on the shoulder on my drive down to Charlotte that night.

Yeah...sorry May 9...and yeah...that woulda been the one. I took my mom and little sister home right after the truck got there. My old man and brother were still there.

Attorney was contacted. Can't find any documents or emails stating a time...insurance can't provide/won't provide anything either. Seems the attorney thinks a reasonable person would believe May 9th would assume coverage the full day, not just the first 59 seconds. Next step insurance commission.

Contact the insurance commissioner of NC, Its the agents duty to make sure you have coverage as long as you are working with them to change it.

As much money as I've given Farm Bureau for my 3 trucks and my house, if they ever tried any crap like that I'd have somebody's ass! It'd be called "Jake Bureau" when I got done with them! Of course, that doesn't sound as good as "Jake...from State Farm"

Glad your brother is alright! I think I would be equally as devastated over wrecking my first vehicle as I would be if my dog died. That's no joke!

I've got a hyundai tiburon gt 6 speed I'm selling for 2200 but I can make a deal for nc4x4

Gets 24 mpg round town 197k miles and will go up as I drive it alot

And I'm located in china grove lol
