hey all

finally drove the jeep today. got 39.5's, disks front and rear. the jeep stops alright at low speeds (not out of 2nd gear. still testing)

but the pedal is very very sponge and goes right to the floor. is that because it has soo much rubber brake line with disks front and rear or is it because i need a bigger mastercylinder.

also i have not took out the oring in the porp. valve. would that make a diff?

Might want to talk to yager, he took the vette master cylinder off and put a e-350 on. As far as brake lines you can uy the premade pieces at autoparts stores, just have to bend them yourself. Best bet is to buy or rent a flaring tool and just buy the fittings you need, cut the stock lines, slide the new fitting on, reflare

I have the same problem with my brakes. As did a good friend of mine. He tried everything including different Master Cylinders. Corvette, E 350, with bleeder, without bleeder. We tried bleeding in many ways. What finally worked for him was:

He took the front calipers off(still attached to brake line) put a 2X4 inbetween the brake pads to keep it from calapsing completely. Rotated the caliper to where the bleeder valve was straight up, and bled them that way. After many Qts of brake fluid had gone thru these lines, there was a massive amount of air that came out! NO MORE SPONGY BRAKES! I have not got to try this yet, but I am going to. Hope this helps

Thought I might better say all he had done prior to the above.
He ended up using a corvette master cylinder without bleeders.
He did remove the guts of his porportioning valve.
He stacked washers on top of his plunger to gain more stroke.
