Thinking about picking one up for the pool to start warming the water for an early start and using it later in the season for late fall fun. Anyone have one? I'd it worth the time and money?

Not sure on covers but a buddie and I got black flexible tube coiled it up an nailed it to YA piece of ply wood ran one end in pump one end back in the pool and let it face the sun cheap and easy pool warmer works well too id say brings pool up 10-15 degrees if not more on sunny days

Is this the bubble wrap, or something fancier?

Its been a long time since I worked in the pool industry, but we sold a lot of the bubble wrap covers. They supposedly worked great.

My parents tried one on theirs. It was a thinner cheap one with no reflective backer. I'd you put it on every night it seemed to do ok. Brought the water temp up ~5°. Their pool is surrounded by trees so it only gets a few hours of direct sun each day. It started falling apart after a few yrs, and they didn't replace it.

There are alot more effective methods of heating water, imo.

The cover is only $100. I think if I leave it in there for the next month it will be nice and warm before Memorial Day. Also leave it in after labor day and swim later.

Yes, the bubble wrap solar pool cover is the ticket. We have a blue one, mid grade (3yr it think). It really helps keep the heat in on cool nights, in addition to solar heating during the days we're not using it. Also prevents water evaporating, so I don't have to add water during droughts, supposedly.
I'm not sure what's better, clear or colered. The cheaper grade covers don't last as long, and have a warranty period that shows. Ours is about 3 yrs old, and like everything I read on the Internet, I see the lil blue plastic circles (bubbles) in the skimmer. I'm not sure if ours will last til end of the year.
I haven't really taken care of it either though. The UV lift degrades it quicker, and I leave it on all winter, to catch leaves. I should probably get a leaf cover for that.
One big pain in the ass is the logistics of storing it. I bought a cover reel from Amazon, but now I'm stuck with a 20ft reel of bubble wrap on one end of the pool deck. The reel is almost a necessity though, my wife or i can roll it up solo. I'd hate to try and pull the cover out of an in ground pool, refold it, etc. without the reel.
