I was sitting in the kitchen nook sipping on some coffee, when I sent my 9 year old son to check the mailbox. He came back in the house freaking out and screaming, yelling that someone tried to steal my Jeep. I laughed at him and said, - "Son, who in their right mind would try to steal my old a$% rig". Nevertheless, I decided to take a look outside and this is what I found...

Fortunately; the idiot that tried to take it; was unaware to the fact that the Jeep does not have any steering link at all and the brakes are not even connected. So after; his not so bright butt; tried to roll my rig off the driveway, he got a real surprise. So down it went into a full roll with no brakes or steering straight to the ditch. That would have been a funny sight to see. To my luck, he must have gotten spooked with all the racket it created. The only thing he or them left behind were some footprints on the mud and tires marks on my driveway and street. Apparently it was a good size truck since the marks have to be at least 35" tires. My dear neighbors were kind enough to bring their truck up so we could take the rig out of the ditch, since without steering or brakes it would not be wise to tried to drive it, :driver: .

Just kidding, that was not the truck they used but it was a funny thing to see when I came out of my garage with my towing straps.

We were able to pull the rig and safely put it back on my driveway. Needless to say, it would have been priceless to see the moron's face in the runaway Jeep in the middle of the night. Thanks God, my rig is allright and all ends well. I will be definately purchasing my shotgun very soon. The police officer on scene stated that I can shot the guy just cant kill him unless he is inside the house, so I will be aiming low.

Wanna bet? Stand in front of the JEEP! If he hits the starter it is now a deadly weapon!! You cannot shoot anyone unless you are in life threatning situation. Standing beside the jeep NO!

wow!...glad your jeep was "under construction" at the time.

punk theives!

I hope the chit-heads had a heart attack when the Jeep wouldn't steer/stop!!:shaking:

Load the shotgun up w/ rock salt, they'd get the message for a while!!

Damn that sucks!

My favorite gun advice, Always fire a warning shot, doesn't matter if its the first shot or the second (hard to prove order after the fact) but always fire a warning shot...

Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but you didn't hear them trying to steal your jeep this time, so what good is a shotgun going to do when/if they try to steal it again,....obviously, you're a heavy sleeper:flipoff2:

Oh, and glad they didn't run off with it,....probably some drunk Marines;)

I hate when I cannot denominate sarcasm when I am writing, the cop was laughing when he said that to me, I got the point thou, LOL!!Sarcastic tone included...LOL.

Yeah my bedroom is on the opposite side of the house and I sleep with the TV on. My neighbors heard a thump around two in the morning but the front of his house faces opposite to my so when he looked out the front window he could not see at all what happened, we did not find out until 6:30am.

Family XJ, thanks for the compliment brother, I saw you driving the other day. I was in the Durango, I cannot wait to finish the Jeep so you can recognize my a$* when I honk at you, LOL.

Thanks for the concern, infantry yj. Are you on Base also? Which yj do you drive, I might have seen you around...

Doc. Are you a corpsman, if so me too:bounce:

Sky, heck yeah I will keep that in mind, brother, always a warning shot, never know if first or after the fact but always a warning.

Houdini, aint that the truth, first time I was glad the Jeep was not finish up.

In closing, I would have never suspect a fellow marine, including a drunk one. If you know Marines like the ones I do, believe me that Jeep would have gone through the ditch, two fences, another backyard and they would have left me a note saying "Thanks for the lift fitch, Ohhrahh". :driver:

Never thought it would happen to me, especially where I live. Boy was I wrong.

damn that sucks. good lookin jeep though! just be greatful the dumbasses didn't get it and were probably so spooked that they most likely won't try again... or at least hope...

-Erik <--- just removed spare key from glove box

I hope they dont come back, thanks for the compliment, I just cannot wait to get her finish up. Still cant sleep now, keeping an eye out on my girl for the night.

i can tell you once someone steps foot on your property in the middle of the night things are never the same. had some punk kid break into my crawl space a few years back and try to steel my cbr 600 race bike. cops cought him in the back yard hiding under a utility trailer. told the cops if i was armed he wouldn't be walking under his own power into the back of the squad car. then my sons crf 50 was stolen from my side deck in the middle of the night. it was locked up but that didn't stop them. that was 3 gun purchases ago. get the picture.

Guys I barely slept last night. Kept hearing voices, :flipoff2: no comments...I finally doze off at around 130am to get up at 430. SO you can imagine how tired I am right now. But my baby slept great last night and no harm came to her. Well talk to yall later, and take care of them Jeeps...

I have had several cars broken into in the driveway. Makes you feel unsafe for a little while. The feeling never really goes away but it does ease up a little with time.

My Buddy John caught a guy breaking into his TJ to steal little shit. a Strap, a bottle of windshield washer Fluid. and couple ammo cans... stupid little stuff. The thief was a bit caught off guard when John stuck his .45 Kimber in the guys face, and told him he best put everything back in the Jeep. And while the thief was doing just that. John kicked a few dents in the side of the guys car. Told the guy to run and leave his car... I'd love to have seen that.

Well, great news guys. Jacksonville and NC State finest came through as always. They have the punks that did it. It was actually three teenagers looking for a joyride. Unfortunately the dumb punks left prints not only on my Jeep but also on about five mailboxes that they destroyed around the neighborhood and stupidly enough bragged about it today at school to everyone they could find. Wildly enough one of them live closer than you might think from my house.Ain't that something. You think you can trust the new people moving in the neighborhood. Well what do you know...I had my mind set that we would never find out who did it, well I was wrong. Attaboy and Bravo Zulu to the boys dressed in brown. I was contacted by someone today with a resolution to my situation, boy that was really fast. Good Bless you Police Officers of Jacksonville and State Troppers, be safe.

wow good deal. now look the jeep over and see what they screwed up and get restitution from their parents

That is great news. Far better than the typical "too bad your stuff got stolen" you typically get. At least have the kids come wash your heep and fix the yard. They should probably also fix/pay for the steering that they broke when they hit the ditch :flipoff2:

To bad you already posted here, sounds like they knocked the steering AND the brakes out.
I don't know officer, they used to work :)

Hehe, not really, but it would be kind of funny. :) Hopefully they will at LEAST get a lot of community service. Nothing will make the teenagers think more than orange vests picking up trash in front of their high school :)

Yeah, I know but honesty is the best policy after all. They did bent the front shackles and the leaf springs so that will be all that I will be claiming on it. I guess I will have to shell out for two rear leaf springs out of my own pocket.

Community service is a beautiful thing. I learned my lesson, well for a little while when I was young. I would make them come over and help fix the Jeep since they damaged it. No air tools and on a Saturday so it wastes all their free time. Prom weekend would be a perfect time. And of course make them pay for the damaged stuff. All while you sit their and talk trash to them.

Dont tempt me because if it can be arranged like that, I would definately do it. I would love to see them actually working on it on a cold day while I am sitting there sipping on some hot coffee.:bounce2: :bounce:
