So the wife and I have the last week at the end of October. I am a big Halloween person, so am trying to think of some things we can do that week. I want to go to a haunted house, but I also was thinking of the wife and I going somewhere for the day and somewhere for the night. Thought about Great wolf lodge...but that seems more like a kid place or a place to go with a group of people.

I want to go to Biltmore again to see the leaves changing, but we are also going during Christmas as well...

We are def going that Friday to the Red Oak Brewery....just would like to do something sort of fallish, but not just driving up to the mountains....
Would like to stay in NC.

ScarOwinds is always fun, gonna take my wife this year. She's never been. I know you said stay in NC but have you ever been to Helen GA, It's really not that much of a drive and it's something different...... http://www.helenga.org/

Niether of us ride rides....Im scared to death of roller coasters.

Really wouldn't mind staying in a cabin somewhere...but don't really want to drop that kind of dough for 1-2 nights.

LOL that's ok. the Haunted house and the rest of the park is pretty awesome too. Im trying to remember the name of the cabin rental place we stayed at in Cherokee, they were really cheap (100 bucks for the night) but very nice... If I remember Ill send you the link

ScareOwinds is a blast !! So is HallowScream at Busch Gardens ( and you can get beer ). For my money late Oct. like that is best in the mountains to enjoy the end of the leaves changing. There is even a hot air balloon company in Asheville.

HOT AIR BALLOON!!!!!??????...no thanks :)

Anything with Beer sounds good :)

I ve been on this kick about doing things that I normally wouldn't do...(insert gross suggestion here)

Thought it would be cool to find a way to ride a train that is open to the elements during the fall. Get your cup of coffee and bundle up and enjoy the ride.

Tweetsie Railroad haunted train ride at night

Upper Gauley white water rafting

Hiking anywhere in the mountains

Virginia creeper bicycle trail

Bike the New River trail

The great smoky mountain railroad?

My wife and I went to this place back in the early spring. It was perfect. Very peaceful and relaxing. http://www.cripplecreekcabins.com/ It is in VA though, but well worth it. I will definately go back.

150th anniversary battle of Cedar Creek in the Shenandoa valley october 17th,18th,19th.This is up I81 near Winchester Va. at a little town called Strasburg. The leaves will be in their prime colors.

Fall is my favorite time of year, and a great time for camping, no mosquitoes (usually) , sitting around a Campfire half the night and cooking breakfast/dinner on a campfire or Coleman stove, just enjoying the colors and smell of the woods in autumn. Beach trips are nice too, summer crowds are gone and the fishing is fine.

Go backpacking... thats the best time of year for it

I really would like to stay in a cabin, but im trying to keep costs low.

If we stayed in a cabin it would probably only be one night...although I would love to have a cabin with a hot tub....went a few years back and stayed in a cabin in Ten. and it had a hot tub and it was cold out and it was awesome.

I wouldn't even mind going hiking somewhere...Its just every year...I always tell myself that I want to do something fallish and fall comes and goes and I never get to do anything...well this year, I made sure I took a week off, so that I would have a chance to do so....

I don't know about trails. We went for an anniversary. Didn't really have hiking on our minds. The cabins are nice, though, and breakfast was good. I'd go back.

I want to go to Biltmore again to see the leaves changing, but we are also going during Christmas as well...

I can get tickets at work for Biltmore for $40 each, if you let me know at least 1 day in advance. These are good year round but won't get you in for Christmas season nights... have to have reservations for that. Let me know if you need some.
