Here's my 1990 Isuzu trooper. It's basically stock with a few mods. I've installed some add-a-leafs and extended shackles from independent4x for about a 2" lift. I've also put a brush guard on it, some fog lights, and a roof light bar. It originally had 235/75 tires on 15x6 wheels, but I have upgraded to 31x10.50 on OEM 15x7 "snowflake" wheels. It has a 2.8l v6 engine and an automatic transmission. Power windows, locks, and even remote auto-start. My next plans for it are some new shocks and a 3.4l v6 engine swap. I'm still debating what shocks I want to get. I want something that will be good off-road and help with the body roll, but I don't want a super stiff shock that's going to jar your teeth out on road. I've been thinking about ome nitro-chargers. They are a little pricey but I've heard ome makes immaculate products that are made specifically for each vehicle, and not "one size fits many".

Here's how she looked when I first got her..

And after some TLC..

Thanks guys. You don't see many of these around anymore, especially in this good of condition. I guess people just don't respect them as much as Jeeps or Yota's. But they are really pretty decent trucks.

A safari vehicle is exactly what it was intended to be. One of the primary reasons Isuzu manufactured these was to compete against Land Rovers in third world countries. They were offered as a cheaper and more basic alternative to the much more expensive and electrically problematic Land Rovers.

Here's some photos of it in action. all these photos are before I upgraded to the larger wheels and tires.

I plan the Uwharrie trips (and wheel with them too) for the guys off of PlanetIsuzoo.com . Of the 30+ rigs that show up a large majority of them are 1st generation Isuzu Troopers/Trooper IIs. The rest are 2nd gens, plus Isuzu Rodeo's, Isuzu P'ups, and Isuzu Vehicross's. Its always cool to see another one of the Isuzu trucks getting wheeling time in. Should come out to Uwharrie in October and have some fun with the other Isuzu-ites (and Mitsubishi-ites etc).

I'm a member on planetisuzoo too, I'm very aware of the Uwharrie trips. They are all the rave over there. I've contemplated going out there before but my work and school schedule always interfered. Plus my rig was stock and I figured I should get a lift and such before I did any risky off-roading like that. Now that i've got that I'm a little more keen to the idea. I'll keep an eye on the Uwharrie thread over at the Zoo.

Clean rig! Seems like most of the pics that I have seen of them is from Baghdad and they have some guy with an RPG hanging out the side of it.

Your wheeling pics look almost like pictures from a brochure for them!

Yeah I am a little slow it seems, I remember you submitted some of those pictures of your rig above for the zoo calendar. It takes me a little while sometimes with the insanity I go through daily but I can usually put 1 and 1 together.

Haha no worries man, I do the same thing all the time. For instance I forgot you were the leader in planing out those Uwharrie trips! For awhile there I thought it was left up to JLEMOND. Seem like there's a lot of people going this year. Hopefully I'll be able to join. I'm sure Buffy's completely restored trooper is going to be the limelight of the event, if he ever gets it finished lol:lol:

Hahahaha yes I don't doubt that one bit! Too bad for those terrorists, the trooper is not the best hit-n-run vehicle as it is slooooww.
