That would happen anywhere else as well...not just SC.

Just because your a big bad Loss Prevention guy from Walmart, doesnt make you a cop. Your still a Walmart employee.

Thats basically tantamount to a Walmart Cashier taking you down for shoplifting as well...just that the LP guy gets paid more.

That sucks. The LP guy got a little over-eager in the line of duty but I sure hope they throw out charges against him.

But the more likely event will be a plea bargain where wal-mart drops shoplifting charges in exchange for her dropping the a&b charge

There should be a 'good samaritan'-like law for criminal activity too. (For those not firmiliar with good samaritan laws- you cannot be charged for damage/ injury resulting from a dilligent attempt to save someones life.)

I worked as a security guard for a while, they tell you to NOT touch someone commiting a crime b/c this will happen to you. But I agree.
Also with good samaritan laws, if you have training and go above your training or screw up within it, you're boned

that loss prevention guy doesnt go by the screen name Gecko45 does he?

bullshit...I've never understood losing your job after trying to protect company assests...my .02

He broke company policy.
I worked LP for Wal Mart in college.
Actually a kick ass cool gig, but I digress.

you do not touch, confront or engage the person until they are outside the store.
They have not broken a law until they lave the store, walking around the store with stuff in your pockets, you are just carrying it since your hands were full.

Just past the register you forgot.

Once you leave the premises you are a thief and as an agent of the company I could detain you until law enforcement arrived. And trust me more than once it looked worse than that.

If you stick it in your pocket inside the store...cant they get ya for willful concealment?

Ole' boy was doing his job, but it looks like he dropped the lady in a bad way. It does make him look like a terrible guy. Her eye is all jacked up...should have dropped her on her butt instead.lol

I was told the defense was I was headed to the checkout to pay for it....an you couldnt prove otherwise,

Just another reason to NOT shop at Walmart. I hate that place, haven't spent a penny there in years.

As for the perp, she deserved a good ass-whoopin. I'm sure that's not the first or last time she'll do it so she might as well get "paid" for it.
