Anybody got one?
Anyone know where I can find out what fits what?
My Troy-Bilt Bronco suffered terminal engine damage, and this engine in particular seem to be an issue.
New engine is 90% of the cost of a new mower, but everything else on it is great so I'm gonna replace the engine.
I just don't want to Frankenstien something in.

The bad motor was the Kohler Courage 18. I think a Kohler Command will fit and is a better motor.

So, anyone know where I can but a used engine?
I'd like to stay within an hour or so Winston Salem, but I'll do what I gotta do.

Craigslist around here is full of used mowers. Most seem to be nice mowers that the left ethanol fuel in and gummed up the carb. I have bought several echo weedeaters and blowers because of that.

The Courage series engines are definitely the worst creation Kohler has ever produced, only second to their 2-stroke mini generators from years ago. For the most cost-effective solution, I'd just hit Craigslist like was said. Keep in mind that unless you know what you need, you probably won't get what you want. There are so many variations of engines that it may end up costing roughly what you'd pay for a new engine to make it work.

Look for a John Deere from the "L", "LA", or "LT" series for a good candidate. Most of these the transaxles are about to shit the bed and can be picked up cheap. Hell, if you want a deal, I have a running LT150 with the Command engine. You could have the whole damn mower for $150. It's missing the hood, needs belts, blades, and idlers, but the rest is sound. I had thought of repairing it and selling it for $7-800, but lost interest.

The biggest problem is knowing what will bolt in and work without a lot of frankensteining.
The second is you are 4 hours away.
But that isn't to bad since I need to see some saltwater!
