Spartan locker questions

No experience with one in a 60, but I had one in 44 for a little while. I beat on it pretty hard and never had any problems. I'd say there isint much difference between them and most other ratchet lockers though.

I gotcha jus trying to figure out whether I wanna go that route or just go all out and get and ARB. Just lookin for some insight. I appreciate it

Miles, Spartans are beef compared to other lunchbox lockers. Thats what I have up frt. In 4lo I'm not sure i've ever seen it unlock. With full hydro you could spool it and be fine. On your buggy, I would probably go spool.

But you gotta get out and break some stuff so you can justify dropping the coin on a 60:driver:

I just installed one in my 44. Easy install, seems stout. I like the pin design better.

had issues on 60s running over 38s with the lunchboxes not holding under extreme usage, they(the spartan) weld up really good tho :D

DO NOT weld it. Been there twice, with full hydro, now running a grizzly locker, and I'm now happy. I did research on the spartan and I was reading a lot of the same issues as the lock right. Speaking from experience, that style of locker can simply wear out. It can be fixed but it can really suck when it goes out. There are a lot of grizzly's getting beat on in our club with no issues.

Started with a mini spool in front of 7000lb suburban. Steering was terrible if not impossible. Switched to 60 with 38.5 with lockrite. Can't turn just blip throttle a little. I beat it as hard I could with a pretty warm 350 and no problems. Never get out low maybe okay with spool but with a little speed the steering factor will become frustrating and maybe a little destructive.

I have broken a spartan and a loc rite in a <100hp toyota on 37" pitbulls. Thats why i said spool

I have loc rites in the front of both of my trucks. I like them pretty good. Easy to install, good price, etc. If I ever break one, I'll just replace it.

I did break a left rear shaft and the Detroit in my K30, but that's another story all together. It sucked, that'll basically sum it up. :D

Haha yeah I've been thinkin spool too just wanted some feed back haha and it's about time lol mines done as takin the first ride at gulches tomorrow. And I got me a front FORD HP 60 so gotta get her built up and like u Said gotta tear some shit up haha

I've installed and run both Spartan and Lockright, Spartans are much more harsh in locking and unlocking. Too me this means more wear but much better engagement. But they have all been in smaller axles. Personally I like full carrier Detroits for my junk. ARB is the best if you want some factory steering once and awhile but I can't get over the overly complicated nature of the beast with seals, airlines, and plumbing to worry with.

I have a Spartan in the front of the J truck. It's a 60 with 5:13's. It has been beat on hard and works great. Never unlocks under load.
