Has anyone Turned the mechanical fan around so it will push out the front instead of pull like normal? I am thinking of doing this on my buggy to keep the head towards the firewall down. Ideas or thaughts?

never thought about it, on a street car it wouldn't work because the fan can't overcome the force of the wind. on a buggy it's not like your driving it 25mph.

try it, with it running see if a rag will stick to the radiator, turn the fan around and see if it's pushing the same amount.

on second thought, the fan is designed to pull, it may do some weird crap if trying to push

I did this to my bronco but with the radiator in the back. I have it sealed in a tight shroud where no air can escape which I've heard is the key for a pushing fan instead of a pulling fan. I wired it like a winch where the poles are completely reversible so I can move air both ways. I figured it might be handy on a cold day?
I took electronics in high school (way back in the day) and came across certain fans that the brushes made contact by a spring that was at an angle so that it was not designed to be reversible. Those were house hold box fans. Might want to peak inside the motor to see that the brushes in your fan contact in a manner to which the fan is reversible without wearing it out quickly. I checked mine out just for curiosity.

I was going to do it on a mechanical fan my top speed in the woods is maybe 10 mph for short distances. I will post up if it works or not

The idea makes sense and should work, but you will have to get a different fan. Simply flipping the fan 180 degrees will result in the fan working the same direction still. You will need to get another mechanical fan with the blades reversed, or actually reverse the rotation of the fan itself.

Yea after thinking about this some more I think this idea will just fail. I guess I gota cut some holes in the inner fender panels to get the heat out of the engine bay

The only issue I really see is you're going to be pulling hot air from around the engine through the rad instead of cool outside air. It would work fine except for that. I say try it. If the temps stay down, run it. If not, go back to the drawing board.

wouldnt hurt to try. but my thought is there isnt a lot of air in the engine bay, the fan sits real close to the motor so there wouldnt be much air to pull out. you can try, id like to see how this turns out.
