how much strength difference am i looking at comparing the two. i know that a mini is a bit weaker. but how much? am I going to kick myself for not putting in a full spool while I have my stuff apart or what? i've been running a mini spool on 33" tires but i'm stepping up to 35's and 4.56 gears.

I busted a mini once in an 8.8, have never had any problems from full spools I have run, just my experience. I would definately recommend going with the full while you have it apart!

full,,i have ran a mini in a 9 inch and busted the pin and then it broke the carrier.my 2 cents.

i see light weight full spools all the time. is it worth it to get a leight weight one? or should I just get a regular one?

There is a wide range of strength vs. light spools. Like solid, and scalloped, then aluminum. The weight difference isn't that important for 4x4s IMO. There's probably more weight in 2-3 feet of .120 wall tubing than the difference in the spools.

I wanted a mini spool because it's cheaper and easier to install. I started doing my research on pirate and it changed my mind.

A few months ago I broke a rear axle and ring gear at harlan. The full spool still shined like new. It was in perfect condition when everything else broke.

I saw the damage a mini spool can do at Moab. Nate(Sceep on Pirate) blew his mini spool - took out his ring and pinion - and both axles in one big BOOM!

Is not worth the initial money saved.
