For the last 20 or so years I have washed almost all my parts with either a parts washer full of kerosene, diesel, mineral spirits or used oven cleaner and purple power w a pressure washer, which in the winter really brings the suck.Im tired of washing parts and am thinking about buying a spray wash cabinet.I dont keep my parts washer in my garage cause I hate the mess that comes w them and I hate to give up the space in the garage for a cabinet. They are all over the place in price, from about 6K to over 20K from what I've saw.Looking for some insight from anybody who might have one or have used one.It would primarily be used to clean transmission cases, transfer case adapters, bellhousings and small parts like pulleys/brackets.I also saw safety-kleen offers them.I assume on a monthly rental basis.which I dont think I would be opposed too.So what do I need to look and look out for??? Any unseen problems w having/using one??

I'd say the biggest down fall to them is how long they take to heat up. And it probably cost too much to leave plugged in.
Some of the ones I have looked at have a timer you can set to come on so they would need to be plugged in all the time to use that feature.

When I worked at a machine shop we had a pretty large one, it had a timer and a skimmer and worked pretty damn awesome, it had a programmable timer. I keep track of them at auction pretty often because I'd like to have one myself. A transmission or engine block sized one pretty regular goes for 2-3k.

Just randomly saw this one on Marketplace. Not sure if it's what you're looking for but seems cheap at $400.

looking more for a cabinet style versus a chest type but im not dead set on one.

We have one of these at the teardown bench here at work, and it does a pretty good job of getting off coolant/oil/chips/grease:

All our stuff is forged with machined surfaces, so not sure how well it would work on a cast case with baked on mud and junk. It's about $650/month for ours, but that includes the lease and probably involves a lot more upkeep than a home use unit. I know it gets serviced at least once or twice a month.

I've had a Temco cabinet for about 5 or 6 years now. I use it about once a month. I bought it from a local transmission shop that went out of business. It was well used but well maintained. It has the on/off timer and skimmer. It also has a boil off feature to reduce the amount of waste when it is time to change the water. From room temp it takes about an hour and half to get to full temp (180-190). Holds about 50 gallons. I have to add about 5 gallons of water every 5 or 6 hours of wash time to keep it full.
