I am ordering some coil overs and need to know how to determine the spring rates I need if I dont know the vehicle weiht at the corners. I can give some basic infromation on the vehicle such as it is a jy with a 4.0 out of a 99xj with an auto trans and a 231/205 doubler set up. The coil overs are going to be for the front suspension and they are 16 in travel 2.5" kings. I dont know what spring rates to give them when I order what rates do others with this type rig run?

First off, unless you're going to be desert running, save yourself a TON of cash and headache, and get 2.0 coilovers. Want a better reason? Go look at the available spring rates in a 3" spring vs. a 2.5" spring.

Plan on buying a good number of additional springs before you get it right if you're unwilling to have it weighed.

14" 200 over 16" 250 maybe?

Thanks! The price difference between the 2.5 and 2.0 was $100. I am not able to get it weighed first of all I am currently in TX and my Jeep is in TN being worked on. I am replacing my air shocks because they just arnt stiff enough and allow for to much sway. I am moving them to the rear and putting the coil overs in the front. I just figured someone on here would have an idea or may have a similar rig that might be able to help me.

Are you using a sway bar? If sway is what your concerned about. a sway bar works wonders. Just putting coils on the front probably wont cure the sway.
