ok, so I run a set of BDS no lift YJ springs in the back of my CJ with SOA and a torque bar. This works but kills the springs rather quickly and makes them 'S' shape. Before I go and order another set, I wanted to hear from the masses. Is it time to go SUA? If so, what type, CJ/YJ/Waggy/chevy/XJ etc. I dont mind making new mounts etc, I just want to match the height as close as I can. WB lengthening is ok, but only up to 3" or so. I guess what I am asking is what is a SOA CJ/TJ spring vs a SUA chevy at X amount of lift? The benefit of SUA is no torque arm, but would I lose clearance and approach/departure angle- especially with long springs? discuss:beer:

I'm sitting in class so I can't type a novel here but I would stay soa. Are your rear packs 4 of 5 leaf? Also, are they clamped? I'm running xj rear packs with an s10 main leaf added in with a traction bar. No problems for the past year of so. Clamping the springs really helps their longevity.

Sua you obviously will loose clearance. Also, it will inhibit your flex. By staying soa you free up the spring to move through its full range of travel. You may want to look at your shackle angle as well, as this could be some of your problem with bending springs.
