i have been debating on getting a square tubing driveshaft for my toyota and just wanted to know what the advantages and disadvantages are to running a square front driveshaft. would this be any better than round? dont know nothing about them so any input would be great. thanks

first is street or just offroad? my vote square if offroad they are cheap & strong, going on two years with mine now no problems...just can't drive it over 55.

I have contemplated this same question my-self. Price wise, I don't think you can beat it for a off road vehicle. My only question is when the square tube meets a large rock.

I have a square shaft up front and for the money thats the way to go. Very strong and if you use .250 wall tubing it wont bend.

You feel it go BUMPBUMPBUMPBUMP

Im looking into these now as well, just having a time finding the right driveshaft yoke to use.

OH NO, not heeps. Square shafts are fine. When you are on the road, the front is disengaged anyway so the shaft wont move. I ran one on my SA truck and had no problems. I know people that have bounced them off rocks so much they are almost rounded out.

ive seen people hung on rocks and use the square to walk the whole truck off the rock. if you make it out of .25 you can drop the entire truck on it and not bend a thing. Balancing isnt that hard either. depending on what size tube you use just leave a little of the old shaft and it will slide right onto the new tube and be almost perfectly balanced. Use trailer receiver tube for the large shaft

I have sqaure driveshafts front and rear.......I drove from Hudson to hky and they did just fine.

I run a square front drive shaft. Be careful with them though. They are super strong. If your truck falls on it, it won't bend. The weak link becomes the t-case output shaft and pinion shaft. If you do fall on it, hopefully the u-joint will break. Good luck. Use 1/4" wall though.

Been running one in the front for years with no problems and I have had the weight of the truck on it more than once. Made one for the rear about a year ago no problems off road. But on road 35mph is max.
