Is there anything wrong with running square tubing for an exo? I know everyone uses DOM but I can't think of anything really wrong with using some thick square tubing. By using square tubing, you wouldn't have to worry about buying a tube bender or :poop: bends... it just seems like square would be easier to deal with all around.

As far as protection, I am sure it could be built strong.
As far as looks, I think it will look great...
...if you are going for the "I stole this ladder rack off an illegal's dually when they weren't looking" style, I think you are onto something.

The amount you would use for a full on Exo would be near as heavy as the rig you are putting it on. By not bending it, you will need extra gussets, making it even heavier. All this weight would all be high for the most part making it very easy to roll.
Then add to that the cost. Schedule 40 pipe would be a better solution, and a cheap pipe bender.
I have seen a few on the trail, and to be honest, just looks funny
