well i am having a starting problem again...this time i am stumped.

first its a 98 jeep cherokee 4.0 aw4

i went to the store...cranked up fine. then when i came out of the store nothing.

it has a new battery, i went and checked the cables and made sure they were tight.

went back turn the ignition on....i had power. then i tried to crank it and i heard a click and no more power.

so everytime i tap on the battery terminals i have power again, and then when i try to crank the jeep nothing and no more power.

i checked the wiring as best i could in the parking lot but they seem to be fine. could this be a starter problem or something else random?

the battery is new

thanks for any ideas...

Most likely your starter solenoid. Replace that (should be between 10-30 bucks). If that doesn't fix it then yea its the starter.

Im betting on a lose chassis ground from battery....

^ possibly. the jeeps in a parking lot and i had no tools. where is that ground so when i go back i can check that.

thanks for the ideas
