Wasn't there a Warehouse in Downtown Raleigh called Dalton's that sold metal Wholesale? They aren't in the phone books either Yellow or White? I know they've been there for many years for I bought there before. Did they close?
I need a stick of 3" x about 1/4" thick for a tube bumper. Seemed cold rolled whatever is probably good enough. Where do you go to in Raleigh now for something like that? Fabco in Cary and Apex Steel is the only two listed locally? Apex is mainly erectors and Fabco is a small outfit. I'd rather buy from a Warehouse for the best price.

tube

how big of a piece do u need:

Dillon is not cheap by any means. I was there last week and they wanted $110 for a 20ft piece of 2x2 box 1/4 wall. Needless to say I walked out without the steel.

Need 6' even would do it or an inch or 2 more would be a bit better. DILLONS! No wonder I couldn't find it. I'll give you guys a couple days to see what you got and then I'll probably break down for a full stick. I got more tubes to add on other projects later on.

try a plumbing place.
3'' sechedule 40 black steel pipe.
you can get weld on caps too.

if ya can't find any i got plenty.
in the shelby area.

usually a local fab shop will sell ya a drop for much less than a minimum from a steel supplier. most any big name steel supplier has $$$$ minimums and most won't cut to length...

Gregory Welding, Hodge St Raleigh. Hellofa nice guy too boot. 821-9188 I've been buying from him for 10 years. Good prices and he is willing to help ya out as time permits for him. His name is Bobby.

Got to love experience! You guys are tremendous help. I also got a local fabber close to my work off of Nowell Road I'll check with.

:flipoff2: Dillons!

Call Keith at Wilson Off Road in Fayetteville. He should be able to help you with whatever you need from metal to repairs, etc.

Also in Fayetteville call McCune Technology or Hurcules Steel. Usually one will have what you need if the other doesn't.

McCune is good about letting you look though their "cut" pile for scraps to make brackets and gussets and they can get DOM tubing. Hurcules only sells pipe not DOM and wont let you near the scrap pile (unless you buy a full/cut piece and ask a warehouse worker while they're helping you load it if you can look though the "drop" pile)
