steel tube questions

Unless this is a trick question I would call it "round tube" or "square tube" depending on the shape. So would http://www.metalsdepot.com/

not a trick question, if you take a piece of tube, it has a seam where its welded together, another piece of steel tube will not slide into it(easily)
if you take a 2" tube, 1 3/4 won't just slide into it.

i don't know if dom is different or not, i would assume it has no seem since it's not welded

HREW = seam where its welded

DOM = no visible seam where its welded, hence it doesn't appear to be welded (but it really is). The DOM means Drawn Over Mandrel, which makes it more true and better wall thickness consistency, and removes the seam from welding

Exactly what rockcity said. Also the mechanical working makes it slightly stronger. You can also buy seamless tubing if you've got money to burn, but regular DOM should accomplish what you need.
