I need to buy a steering box for by cj. I plan on putting a hummer h1 box on it since its a direct swap. The question is a remanufactured box good quality or would a brand new one be better for $150 more?

I didn't know about the H1. I ran my 79 CJ till last year, with the original box, & 33" tires. I had been having seal leakage, & when it finally started getting a lot of play in the wheel, I replaced it.
Bought a reman, from NAPA, thinking it was better quality. Now I know that Advance, & probably all the rest, use the same suppliers. The reman lasted about a year, before the main shaft, tried to drive out the bottom.
It was still under warranty, so they replaced it=no questions asked. I'm Hoping it was just a fluke!

several years ago , I replaced my CJ box with a new super box from Summit Racing , around $400 at the time and it has been ...well super ! .....only thing -- directions want you to use this purple fluid which I did not find until I was ready to install and had to wait a few days after the install for fluid to arrive from Summit racing . I would go new if possible . Also , a few months later , I installed an after market shaft .
