Just got my truck. I have 44's on 15" rims. It turns great to the left, but when I turn right, man oh man it doesn't turn much. :driver:I was told there is a kit or something to make it steer the same in both directions. Anyone have info on this?

Yeah, crossover steering. Your best bet is to put some 1-ton axles under it first though. Even driving on the street, I don't feel that a 10 bolt rear is up to holding anything much taller than 35s.

Here's some info:

That's for a Dana 60 axle. It's much easier to do crossover on a 60 as opposed to a 44 or a 10 bolt. You should also seriously consider hydro-assist steering as well.

Hydro is debateble depending on intended use.
CROSSOVER is a MUST....NOW!
Not only turn easier but also safer, with that size tire.
I would go over that thing with a fine tooth comb anyone running that large of a tire without a x-over convversion tells me a lot about the previous owner.

Agreed!

If you're planning to upgrade axles anyway, I would go ahead and gather all your parts and tackle everything once and be done with it.

If you want to just do crossover on a 10 bolt, you'll need an old model D44 flat-top knuckle.

Thanks for advice

I'll be searching for some of the ^above^ mentioned. The truck wasn't used much before and not sure how hard and rough it was used.

its a little better but if you plan to actually wheel it you will need some upgrades ,like stated ^^half ton axles are only good for about 35" tires :driver:

It's a 12 bolt rear end does that help anything?

12 bolts are marginally weaker than 10s...so close lets just call it even.
No...the rear will live until you get stupid, but 14b can be had all day for 150 and they are a direct bolt in.

The front will all be up to what you plan, but a D44/10b aint livin under 44s off road at all

If you want to swap in a 14B, get one from a 3/4 ton and it will be a bolt in deal. 1-ton rears have narrower spring perches (40"), whereas the 3/4-tons are wider (43").

Cab and chassis trucks are narrower, ut standard K30 ax;es should be the same.
My 14b out o a K30 was a direct bolt in for my K5..

I think I got a complete crossover kit for my dana 44 front. Does $350.00 sound good? That includes knuckle, arms and 2wd steering box

Yeah, that's a great price!
