I'm looking to put a stereo in my boat. I am going to be using a sirius sat. radio. Due to having some space limitations that is all I am going to be able to fit on the dash. It is one of the small ones that plays through the FM on a regular head unit. However, it also has a stereo output on it. What I am thinking is just hooking it up to an amp that I mount somewhere dry and that way I don't have to worry about a regular head unit.

Do they make an amp that has an external volume control?

thanks

If you can find a way to mount it so the gain control knob is accessible, that will mostly accomplish what you want.
Quality won't be as great as you might be hoping for, but it will work.
Some amps have remote gain controls, but they are pricey, and you'd be better getting a cheaper marine grade amp to prevent corrosion.

Just use the volume control on your sirius radio, or go to radio shack and get a external adjust(dual amp balancer). We use to do this setup at Circuit City all the time.

i am doing the same thing in my buggy ... use a mp3 player and and get a cable that goes from headphone jack on one side to rca's on the other . got mine from a local car audio shop. then you use the mp3 volume control. i also have a marine grade amp and tower speakers .. all pyle brand .

i should note that my sirius also has a mp3 player built in.. however you can get a mp3 player for about 20 bones nowadays
