Still overheating!!!

check air flow, flush your system.

make sure radiator, and or condensor are not clogged with mud or debris. when its running CAREFULLY grabe ahold of the radiator hoses. if its overheating truely bit hoses should be extreamly hot to the touch. if one is cold or much, much cooler than the other look for blockage or faulty thermostat.

Make sure that you have the correct rotation water pump. I had same problem only to find that the parts monkeys at one of the chain stores gave me a standard rotation pump instead of the reverse rotation pump that my YJ needed.

place your hand on the radiator when it is runnig to feel for cold spots. if you have cold spots then the radiator is clogged... but chances are you have a blown head gasket. you dont always get the oil in the coolant or the coolant in the oil with a cracked head or gasket. when mine blew i could run it untill it was borderline overheating, then i would remove the spark plugs and i could hear the small amount of coolant blowing into the chamber it was a slight hissing sound.

not familiar with yj setup, but, If it has a clutch fan on it the clutch can be going bad. to check it crank the engine and CAREFULLY take a slim piece of cardboard and you should be able to stop fan when engine is cold. After engine heats up the fan should have a alot of resistance when you try to turn blades by hand with engine OFF! Thermostats you get from adv. and autoz are cheap and can be bad even when new. Try a stant "super" which are about three times the price but worth every penny. If your head gasket is leaking it can internally. You can take rad cap off and sometimes see actual compression bubbles in coolant. Any rad shop should check for compression in coolant system free for you!Hope this helps!
