stock 3 speed automatic trans?

Which 3 speed auto tranny is stock for the 2000 TJ with a 4 cylinder engine? Will a later model (20006 and later) Wrangler 4 speed auto tranny w/OD work with the TJ? I need better gas mileage in my 2000 TJ! (but I would/will never trade my jeeps off for mileage gain!) thanks.

that's "2006"...hahaha, not 20006, but I bet my Wrangler could last that long...
