I love my YOTA and have been reading a lot of forums. Is there anyone who has experience with a 3rd gen 4runner and could help me mod and maintenance? Trying to learn and get experience my self so i can keep my car forever.
What do ya want to know or what are your goals with it offroad? There are a couple of us that have built these generation 4runners into pretty damn reliable DD/Weekend Wheeler rigs before.
Id love to learn how to fix it up if anything goes wrong. I plan on camping at urwharrie in the future and would love to adventure the courses. I plan on doing some maintenance on my car but have no experience with cars bc im only in college and this has been a family car til i got it. My question is can someone help me learn how to do normal maintenance like cleaning the throttle, Maf, ect. I have a whole list of ideas just not the right tools and knowledge. Just dont want to mess up my only ride thanks
I have to say my 98 4runner is pretty tough. Mine has 227000 miles and going strong. The 3.4l is a good motor and will last a while as long as you do the timing belt and water pump within the recommended intervals. My auto tranny is still doing good to even at these miles Theres not to many choices when lifting one. Mainly only 2" to 3" front spacers and rear coils. Enough to fit 32 to 33" tires. That i know of there are no major problems with these 4runners.
