Hey guys, I am new here and was wondering if it is worth the almost two hour drive to Uwarrie if I have a stock Cherokee. I know that they have two trails that are supposed to be for stock 4X4's, but was wondering if the drive was worth it. Thanks for the input.

yea you can take that stock cherokee just about anywhere in uwharrie. We took my stock tahoe and a buddys stock cherokee with some bald (I mean bald) all terrians and did every trail except daniel.

how is daniel?

I drive a 98 TJ with 32's, could I make it up? heard the standard area to go is kinda hard with a worn out rock ledge?

The actual trail is not very hard I made it in my old ZJ on 31's the first time I ever went rock crawling. The are a couple hard parts (kodak rock I think) which I went around with no trouble. Almost everywhere in uwharrie you can take a different route to get up, so as long as you can drive decently you can make it through most of the trails. Daniel may have the hardest couple obstacles, but it is actually an easy trail.

To the OP, yes, you would have a lot of fun in a stock XJ.

NCKrawlers will be there next weekend(17th-19th).Come on up,catch us at campsite 30/32 and ride. We are very stocker/newbie friendly. And yes,I drive a stocker 1950 Willys.

How has nobody said this yet...DON'T GO ALONE! Ask around on here. I'm sure you could find somebody to meet up with. It's just a bad idea to go without somebody else, and some recovery equipment.

I've been in a stock Montero and a stock commander, just 31s and did just fine. The main problem may be clearance in some places, just be careful and watch where you go.

I've heard the 2 ledges on Daniel are getting real good...if you've never been to Uwharrie, stay off Daniel in a stock XJ. I bet a stock TJ (open diffs) would struggle there too.

Almost everything else should be do-able, the biggest challenge will be the ledge at Rocky Mount Loop before Kodak. At Kodak rock itself, there is a stocker bypass so thats not an issue.

Lets see I did a big portion of RML in a stocker XJ at about 25 mph last May :driver:
(but I wouldn't recomend that, I didn't exactly have a lot invested in it)

youll be ok in the stocker if you go with someone,, after you go youll be hooked on th drug that is wheelin and youll be opening the wallet for upgrades

I have been across every trail about every way in an open yj with 33's with hubby. Thing's only really get tough when it rains.

I took my truck down every trail except half of Daniel stock on 235 street tires. And most trails have bypasses for all the hard obstacles, except for Daniel's ledge mainly. But like mentioned the best idea is always to ride with at least one more rig. Below is a Stock Cherokee that was out with a brand new stock Grand that got high centered on one of the mini rock berms on Wolf Den:

So it always pays to have someone with just in case. Other wise with some good spotting/taking bypasses you should be able to do everything no problem as long as you don't mind scraping bottom possibly from time to time.
