Stock XJ D35 to C8.25

Can anyone confirm if the driveshaft needs to be shortened when going from a D35 to a C8.25 in a stock height XJ?
Found a good looking C8.25 in the local pick-n-pull, but it is 2wd so I can't measure and confirm driveshaft length.

1997 XJ AX15/NP231/D35 is current setup.

Yes it needs to be shortened. About 1-2" shorter. Which you can do yourself if you have a grinder, welder, indicator, time, & patience.
