so it finally happend, someone stole my faceplate from the radio anyone have any ideas on how to secure it in my TJ i want a tuffy security console, but dont have the money and the quadratec ivault for the TJ is a peice of crap anyone have any ideas on how to make something.

There's not really any room in a TJ glove box. The chassis fuse panel and the air box is immediately behind it, too.

Just replace it with a cheapy stereo. My strategy on securing Jeeps has always been simply to not have anything worth stealing in it. Anything nice is going to get stolen in a Jeep eventually

And do not lock the doors if you have a soft top.
My son had one of those enclosures in the rear that only could be accessible from the rear gate and it worked out good for securing items at school and he always removed his faceplate from the radio.

Buckeye Performance Inc.

Or don't put a radio in it. Hide an amp somewhere and run an RC to Headphone jack to your phone. Keep your music on your phone, and get Pandora and iHeart Radio apps. that's assuming you have a smart phone of course.

good ideas everyone thanks for the help, i might try and build a steel box with a locking front on it for the radio and use security screws to hold the center peice of the dash togather then further attach the steel box to the dash with a steel bar attached to the back of the dash with security bolts that should hold it for a while. just need to find a metal brake and a welder.

I live in Fayetteville, also I could wait I have some friends up north that has a plasma table, but not having a stereo sucks. They just stole the face plate and I have the rest of the stereo still, but I am afraid if I buy a new deck they might steal it thinking it was the previous one. no one makes them for the tj.

We always had the opposite happen, family owned a used dealership and guys would break the windows out and steal radios all the time. Thing is we always took the faceplates off, post a pic of what your faceplate looks like and i will check my stash. May or may not have one but if I do its yours for shipping or you are not too far from me im in benson.

sorry I did not respond earlier I'm in the army with a crazy schedule, anyway the radio was a kenwood kdc-mp438u cd reciever. Thanks in advance for the offer.
