Well somebody decided that i didnt need my winch anymore and stole it sometime this past week. my jeep was outside my friends shop for about 2 weeks. i worked on it last week and it was there i went yesterday and it was gone. it really pisses me off that people cant buy their own crap. anyway to any vendors out there if anyone is looking to buy power leads and a remote for a warn winch hs9500i then please beat them over the head or at least let me know so i could do the same. they also took the winch mount. i know i will never see these again(even though a police report was filed) but it still drives me crazy that some people r like this. anyway just a thought keep your winches locked up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad:

was it bolted down or on a quick release slide in hitch type?

I guess I better go & put a tack weld on the nuts of my winch.
good luck on kicking the ass of the who stole it I hate a thief

yea..i dont understand why people dont take the time to put a tiny little tack on four nuts, when it could protect a $1000 investment

well for me it's not something I have thought about until I read this post. Not many thieves would take that much time to unbolt a winch those sonsofbitches were pretty bold hell they were probably watching the rig for a few days to see when they had time to steel it

with the invention of cordless impacts and a healthy set of side cutters a winch could be had in less time it takes to grab a radio out of a dash. Sorry for your loss though.

Insurance? Usually if it's bolted down it's concidered part of the vehicle and will probably be covered if you've got full coverage. Sucks to hear.

Sorry for your loss. I'll definately add some theft protection measures to mine now.

Sad, you can't leave anything out without worrying about that kind of crap.

The alarm on my jeep is a convertible style alarm with a perimeter sensor. If you get too close it will start chirping. If you don't get out of the perimeter within 20 seconds, she goes off. Nothing is full proof, but it will run off most thieves.

I took a piece of angle iron and tack welded it over one of the bolts. I could get it off with a mini sledge but it should stop the run of the mill thief.

Yep, did the same on mine, welded it down good, not planning on taking it off anytime soon and figured that it would slow them down quite a while.

Sux tho brother, but yes, although you deductible may suck/kill it, might be worth turning in on insurance. Just be careful, you turn in 2-3 claims in 3 years they will drop you like hot potato, even "if" small stuff.

Or just build your mount to where you have to take apart half the front end to install or remove the winch.. :shaking:

still it sucks, it was at my shop when it happened, no matter what you still shouldn't have to weld your bolts or whatever to protect your own stuff, basicly making your work harder because some piece of shit prick cant afford to buy one or too cheap cause he spent 10k for a rusted out......ok never mind, i am just pissed.

That sucks. Are there any distinguishing marks? Rust spots? I'm in GSO and will keep my eyes open.

I'm debating spraypainting mine hot pink or green just so it'd be obvious whose it was

Every couple of months I take all of my tools and some of the toolboxes and spray them all hot pink. Makes them much easier to find, and much less attractive to most redneck thieves.:flipoff2:

the only thing is that the power cables were cut pretty short, and they took the whole winch plate and roller leads and to
10k tie hooks. look for repaired power cables like maybe made from battery cables or something, winch says HS on it cause it was considered high speed in its day but baisicly like a 9500ti
