Has anyone on this site attempted a Straight axle conversion on a early to mid 80's f150? just wondering how had this would be. I have a 1983 and i'm throwing around the idea. Thanks

its almost bolt in.

you will need a dana44 from a 78-79 ford.

I put a D60 under my 85 fullsize bronco frame. I used radius arms from a 77 F150 and bought the wedges for the axle. I used the stock (85 model) radius arm brackets at the frame, and just redrilled the mounts for them. I made a track bar with a bushing on one end and a heim joint on the other.

I highly recommend going to fullsizebronco.com and digging through the SAS section of the forum. Read, read, and read some more. That topic is thoroughly covered in there and you're questions have already been answered. I know you have an F150, but it's the exact same TTB front end and there's people on there with 150's who have done writeups on this swap.
I have a solid 44 under my bronco and it was not exactly bolt in. I got a 44 that was already set up for coils with the wedges cast on, got 78/79 coil cups and upper coil mounts, 6" deaver superflex coils for a 78/79, cage radius arms and frame mounts, and a superlift adjustable track bar. You'll need to fab the track bar mount and tranny mount, both need to be stout. It takes some fab skill and time to invest. Definitely not the easiest thing, but not the most difficult, either. That said, I had Carolina Rock Shop set mine up, pics are here:
