Strange rear end noise

Something funky is going on in the rear end.
When at speeds over 30 or so when you are at any constant speed, if you just slightly let up off the gas you get a holing or rumbling noise from the rear end. If you give it some gas or start to slow down then the noise is gone.

There is no whining at all, when accelerating or deccelarating all is quiet, its just the threshold where you are at constant speed when torque is at a minimal to the rear end. I know what gear whine sounds like, it does not sound like that, so I guess that leaves pinion bearings or carrier bearings.

99' Cherokee
3.5 RE kit, but basically netted 4" (Possibly a lil higher). Ran no SYE, no Shims... had the shop put 4 degree shims in, along with a TC Drop and I guess it still makes a noise, not sure how much difference as I'm traveling and won't be back until end of week.

But is this basically only curable by adding an SYE?

Anyone recommend a good driveline shop in the Raleigh area?

Any ideas.
Thanks

Just to add. This was NOT making any noise with the factory suspension in. I've had the kit installed for 1 month today. It has NOT been making the noise the entire time...

So, I'm wondering the the bearings are simply getting tweaked while not on the gas?? Odd.

Shims and TC drop have not fixed this, worth going to the SYE or would you suggest simply having it looked at first?
It's still at the shop I've had everything done at, so I guess we'll see.

Someone posted in another forum regarding this issue:
The problem was in the trans (AW4)
A valve/spring in the valve body was not suppling enough pressure to the tourque converter when driving constant speed. Had it replaced, No more noise.

Thoughts?
