Not as much of a wheeling question, but does involve transfer cases so figure I'd ask.

I'm going to be building my S10 Blazer as a street truck. I'd like to make it AWD for open road and auto cross, but would be nice to have a 2wd option in case I ever want to drag race it or just generally do gigantic burnouts.

I was thinking of an AWD case like a Typhoon, but that doesn't have a 2wd option. Anyone know of a good tcase that'll be good for the street and handle about 600+fwhp?

I can't think of a GM AWD case that's 2wd capable. The Silverado SS case is pretty stout though.

I'm guessing an upgraded NP242 isn't quite strong enough?

This was my thought and my plan for an AWD case it the hot rod I was planning on building. I was only thinking around 400 rwhp tops though. Also the 242 isn't truly awd, it essentially has an open diff. in the tcase when in awd mode or locks it when in 4wd.

NP242 is the only one I can think of that incorporates 2WD and AWD. I was just looking today and saw where there is a kit that gives you a hummer wide chain and a 32 spline main shaft. Would that be enough for what youre doing?
