Actually, see the 2 little holes on the face of the drum? They are threaded, find 2 bolts that thread in there and walk it off. A little on one side a little on the other. Also spray the joint between the hub and drum with PB blaster.
2# hammer and hit *in* around the rim of the drum. The boss on the end of the axle should have a chamfer that allows the drum to cock sideways. Keep hitting, working your way around, and it'll come right off.
Make sure the shoes are actually backed all the way off, too.
Tried backing off the adjuster they seem to be frozen also and the little holes that are threaded are striped and rusted so bad the threads are gone. Any other ideas?
Hammer, hammer. hammer. It`s the only way I`ve ever gotten them off my Toyota. Like Mr Saf-t Scissors said, get the drum to rock back and forth just a little at a time.
Heat it with a rosebud torch, concentrating around the lugs. Propane will work, but takes longer than acetylene. Once it is good and warm, tap it off with a 3# hammer or use a prybar.I have had to do this on more than one POS.
