So my job has me in a training program for the next 4 months. This month it is all self-study online, so I have moved to a different office in a different building where nobody can bother me while I study all day every day this month. Problem is that it is too quiet.
What music do you guys study to? It needs to be just instrumental.

Not instrumental but I love some old Jethro Tull to study by. Thick as a brick and passion play are both 45+ minute continuous songs and mostly on the light side. I also like most classical. Saint Saens especially.

When I really need to concentrate I cant have music going.
I have to "create" silence. And when I do this it soundds like a hum in my head but friends have told me I sound like a cow making a very long extended mooo...

Oh well no help here

I've actually used the studying to classical, its not bad good for when you have to have something in the background

Pink noise generator?

Pandora also has a Chill/Downtempo channel, but it's gotten pretty repetitive in my experience. That, and I think I poisoned mine with Parov Stelar, so it's not very chill or downtempo anymore.

I wouldn't get any studying done listening to either of those... I'd be asleep.

It's been forever since I've every had to "study", but when I'm designing or coding, which still involves a lot of repetitiveness and focus, I typically listen to Three Days Grace on Pandora. Artists similar to Three Days Grace like Disturbed, Tool, Slipknot and Stone Sour keep my creative juices flowing and keep me awake.

I guess if I had to choose instrumental music to accomplish the same thing, it would be something like Trans-Siberian Orchestra, but Christmas tunes would get old quick out of season.

Rush usually has at least one instrumental song per album. I may burn a mix CD of all of the instrumental songs and see how it goes.

Thanks, I'm going to try some of these. Never tried Pandora before. I have to take a weekly test before 5 today.

Try these guys out instrumental & very talented
