so I get a new set of tires for the heep. Pulling them off the truck and like gd these things look big. O well been awhile since Ive taken mine off. Jack up one side and pull off the old tire and start to put on the new one. F'n thing wont line up. Jack up the axle alil more and its on. Put down the lift and look it over. The f'n tire is a 1/4" from hitting my fender flare. 2-3 inches of clearance gone to a 1/4". TIRES ARE THE SAME NUMERIC SIZE and according to the websites the new tires are actually 1/2" smaller in diameter. So now I am stuck auto clearancing or fixing the prob. I prefer to fix it. I've still got an 8.8 Im not done with and a sye that needs to be ordered. I wanted to do the soa, sye, and 8.8 at the same time and now I either piss the tires away and get smaller til the $$$ comes in or do a body lift. Body lifts that bad? Will I regret it? Whats the best ones if not?

1" or 2"?

Cut that mud flap/fender flare alittle. When the tire tucks...... It will move back (axle) because of the shackle. You can also put alittle bit longer shackle on it.

Why don't you just put some longer shackles on it. Give you about 1"-2" depending on what length you want. Shackles are easier to put on than a BL, but then again neither one is all that hard to install. BL's are ok, I used to have a 3" on my old Wrangler & I still have a 3" on my Toyota. My Jeep now is all spring & shackle though w/39.5" Boggers. I don't notice any sway action even at highway speeds w/the shackles, I don't run a sway bar any more either.

No that would be the simple solution of course. The problem is my dl angles are f'd as is. I don't wanna do the sye until I do the soa and finish the 8.8 so I'm pretty sure a bl is all I can get away with atm

Put on TJ flares. I've got a pic request in with a buddy of mine for before and after pics of the TJ flares on his YJ. It makes a huge difference.

I think you do, but the finished product "looks" stock. I know of two people that have done it and you'd be amazed at how much more room there is. I PM'd ncjeepinyj over on webwheeling for the pisc of his before and after. I should just have him respond to you in this thread.

Stupid question but was width rims did you have and do you have? If they are on narrower rims it would make them taller(maybe).

Ha found them:

Stock YJ flares:

Stock TJ flares:

I PM'd the guy that did these and let them know about this thread.

yea well I had a case of sfb and didn't think about that before the fact. I was sitting there thinking of the fact that 35x13.50's on a 10" rim that is supposed to be 1/2" bigger anyways would equal a 35x12.50 on a 8" rim would equal out. My math is either fubar'd or mickeys run smaller than they advertise.

you spilt something in your driveway, looks like oil!
also, sell those POS tires and buy smaller ones.
you're welcome.
I MEAN THIS :fuck-you:
Its called

emptying out
those tj flairs look gold though. And the bfgs would be perfect for the daily driving since my crap never makes it to the trails anyways. I blame the dana 35 for all my problems! O yea and 2 kids lol

You have to cut and drill for the TJ flare, but it is pretty forgiving and very much worth it.
4WD.com has them new for less than $40 each.

The inner diameter of a T flare is exactly 35".

Oh, and the claws you had on there probably measured about 32".

I wonder what mickey T will say when i call them in the morning and thank them for the false advertising. Well then they should fit on my stock grand cherokee hahaha

nice, a one two combo! the bikini top to keep rays off as you are cruising down the road and also can be used as your kids swimming pool!

The pics willness33 posted is probably the best before and after i have but here are just a few more to show how it looks with bigger tires. The first pic is SOA on stock springs and 35" Trxus mt's.

Heres the most recent pic. same setup but with 36" bias swampers.

TJ flares are definately worth the time and $$$ involved. Not really that difficult, just make sure they are where you want them before you start cutting.

Judging by the wear on them from the pics, you have lost about 3/4" top and bottom. So 33.5" (What 35" claws measure new) - 1.5" (wear) =32"...

Most tires run smaller than what is on the side walls. Some companies are worse than others. The BFGs you have now will be pretty close to 35".

That looks good. Did you weld the rear seams (body panel seam) back or do you have too cut through them to install the TJ flares? I have been want to do this to my YJ for some time now.

So 33.5" (What 35" claws measure new)

Well I know tires are for the most part smaller but hell they even adverstise a perfect 35" tire on their website. Yes I know I'm retarded for not thinking about it first but o well. A small difference wouldn't bother me.
