So Im picking up a vehicle on saturday so obviously I cant go get tags on a saturday. I know with a trailer I have 30 days to get tags but is that the same with a vehicle? It will be insured though but just no tags/registration. BTW this is an NC vehicle

put a tag off another vehicle that is registered and insured to you on it, and make sure to carry the title for the new car as well as the registration for the car thats tag your using

or find an old 30-day tag and change the date on it, because theyre not tracable anyways

I'd just drive it straight home...carrying a proof of insurance and a Bill of Sale...

or, find somebody on here that'll go get it on a trailer for a nominal fee...I'd do it if you were in Charlotte...

they arent tracable? wtf?

yeah like when the cop would run the numbers on it, they dont come back to anything... like a cop cant run a 30day tag like they can a normal tag, and get the vehicle info off it...

I'd just drive it straight home...carrying a proof of insurance and a Bill of Sale...

just drive it home(stright home) i got pulled doing the same thing and they towed my shit and tried to tell me he could arresst me and BS. i had insurance but fake tags. fake tag thing

the fake tag issue is a biggie, depending on who pulls you...

if it doesn't match the vehicle, the situation above may happen...

if you make a cardboard "LOST TAG" version, or a cardboard duplicate (writing your number on it), it's also a falsifying document issue, or whatever they want to call it...

I'd rather drive with no tag and the proper paperwork, than with one that doesn't match...

other option, is if there's a tag on it...the guy may let you drive it home and mail it back...

I've sold a vehicle before and forgot to get the tag off, and just call the guy and told him I was going to report it lost/stolen, so he could do what he wanted to with it...I've also sold one and intentionally left the tags on it, with the buyer knowing I was going to report is lost/stolen the next day...

put a lost tag sign in the tags place & have a friend stay behind you you will be fine or rent a u-haul trailer

I had a tag confiscated by doing that with a Illegal Registration ticket. Got that one dropped to plead guilty of speeding - reason I got pulled to begin with. It's a no no in NC. Just drive it tagless is what they told me to do next time. If pulled explain and they will forgive.

fumble through papers in your glove box for 5-10 mins iif you get pulled like i did last sunday and say your lookin for your registration...hopefully the cop will be cool like the one that pulled me and just be like ok...lol...jk jk jk...im sure theres some leniancy...

I would just put insurance on it, and have your insurance paperwork, and sale paperwork (be it title, bill of sale whatever, keep it all with you) and drive it straight home. I did this not too long ago, I bought a K5 in Asheville, drove it home to Harrisburg, no problem. I wouldn't recommend pushing your luck and driving it around all weekend though, just straight home. I drove around all weekend, even right in front of a cop no problems but, once again, I wouldn't push your luck.

If you know someone who is a used car dealer, just borrow a dealer tag for one day. Make sure he fills out the paperwork for the tag.
