Suburban cargo divider???

What cargo divider are you talking about? I was thinking the truck area, make some simple boxes. If you are talking about something from front to back like a police car or taxi, would expanded steel or something similar work?

I want something to keep tools from flying up front in a crash. Expanded metal or something with a Plexiglas window in it.

My brother used a suburban as a work truck, and had a pretty bad wreck. A recip saw flew up and hit the seat his daughter was in and bent the seat. I don't really want that to happen.

Are you ok w a wire mesh of sorts, ir want a solud surface?
Solid - pylwood frame w a pkexiglass window. Or just nade out of plexiglass mou ted to an emt tube frame.
Not solid - your choice of fencing mesh.

Several years ago i worked a van wreck with a safety cage in it he was a electrican. Had a big drill with about a 3ft wood bit chucked up in it and it went through the expanded metal cage and went through the back of his head and killed him. I would suggest you put something solid between you and the back.

I suggest securing your tools. Ran a wreck tonight where the 100 gal fuel tank went through the back of a pickup

Look for a take out from a police Tahoe or border patrol suburban. Both aluminum with mesh array of opening cut or Lexan, depending on it it was k9 or prisoner/detainment
That is what I am looking for.

Trying to avoid that

That is the purpose of this thread.

Just for the sake of clarity, a divider is not securing. It's attempting to stop.
That's a good thing. A better thing is a way of strapping down and preventing from moving.

Build a window/tailgate height box.

Ex:

Ours have 6 drawers you drop tailgate and have access once tailgate is open.

Below that is storage for trays and other loose tools, Only about 2’ deep.

In front of that at back seat height is a box with hinged lid for all the tools that get minimal usage and bigger items.

Have to reach over back seat and open lid to get to this stuff.

Carpet covered top for transporting 8’/10’ long stuff temporarily.

Then no one can see what’s in there and everything is secured.

I am building a tool box, but there will occasionally be things that won't fit in the box, and I don't want them coming up to visit when an idiot pulls out in front of me.

What about one of those “decked” systems with the drawers
