SUBURBAN/YUKON PROBLEMS AND RELIABILITY

Haven't settled on one yet. Really looking at a 07 denali. Checks all the boxes except awd instead of 4x4 and is priced right.

Well, we bought the 07 Denali AWD. 200xxx on it with no ticks or knocks. Runs and drives smooth as can be. Everything seems to work as it should. I'm not crazy about the AWD, but the wife loved it. Paint is peeling on the hood and it needs new tires. 7k. I felt like it was a good deal. What say ye?

I see it's too late, but 07 is first year of AFM I would avoid. My mom has an 07 XL (non Denali) 5.3 4wd. Had massive oil consumption issue when Dad bought it. Turning of AFM has reduced the consumption, but still uses a little.

Honestly at 200k I would think that one has had to have had something done already.

So the guy told us that it doesn't have AFM. At first I didn't believe him. But now I'm seeing that the Denali with the 6.2L didn't get AFM until 2010?

You're right, VVT but not AFM on the 6.2s. This is interesting though...

"Engines built prior to April 1, 2006, contained AFM components, but the software was not present in the PCM and thus the system was not functional. Engines built after this date did not have any AFM components, and instead used a valley cover plate similar to the L20"

if you feel it was a good deal-it was a good deal.
Comparison is the thief of joy.
Don’t look back on a decision made. Rockon

It checked all the boxes that were deal breakers. Only preference it didn't check was true 4x4.

All Denali are awd.
You traded “true 4x4” for luxe- and chances mom ever needs 4lo are low.
Enjoy it

Yeap. That was the consensus. It's definitely as nice a ride as we've ever had.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 04 Denali. Whatever you do just be sure to get something with disc brakes in the back because drum brakes suck and are for the poors
Lol. Wife I'd dying to go pick it up Monday.

If anybody has some 275/55/20 AT tires they don't need let me know.

Here's some crappy pics of it. We are picking it up Monday and I'll get some better ones.

Nice ride!

We loved our '11 Denali XL, except I needed more room in the driver's seat...she was peppy!!

6 week update. Love the truck. More luxury than were used to. Drives great and pulls good.

But it does have some issues. Oil pressure reads 70 psi on startup, and it has a mild tick. Once it warms up, tick goes away and it runs at 40 psi and idles at about 20 psi. Just changed the oil with 5w30 and a wix filter.

It leaks (not burns, no smoke) a quart of oil a week. Can't seem to visually locate the leak.

Also still getting a P2714 code occasionally if we floor it. Plan to cycle fluid through to get fresh in there and see if it clears up

Minor issues: can't get the tpms system to work. Key fob doesn't work. Getting a "service park assist" message, but no codes.

A quart a week is A LOT of oil and should be a very apparent leak. My mom's (it was an afm 5.3 but...) used a lot of oil but did not smoke and showed no signs. There is a revised valve cover / pcv system system that is supposed to address oil consumption. Buy the time my dad did that fix, it had fouled the converters really bad and threw codes. We ended up putting some non-oem converters on it (that still set the catalyst below efficiency codes) and getting it tuned.

There's a constant puddle under it. But I can't find the source.

Just had my wifes 09 denali looked at. Was leaking terrible from valve covers and around oil filter housing. But they are also known for front crank seals leaking too. Having the mechanic fix the valve covers and filter housing dried it up 95%. Now its just the typical rear main leak.

I would pop the top cover off and look at the oil pressure sensor on the back of the block. I think it is closer to the drivers side in the valley. Could be worth replacing if you think the oil pressure gauge readings are whacky anyways o_O

That will leak all over the back sending oil down towards the oil filter making a mess. While you are back there you can see if the valve covers are leaking.
