Suggestions for Myrtle Beach

My wife wants to go to Myrtle beach again this summer, but we want to try a different place this year. We have stayed at Captains Quarters the past two summers and it's been OK, but it's rather unpredictable. The first time we went, all but one of the elevators were out, so there was a LOT of waiting for elevators. Last year the elevator problem was fixed, but there seemed to be a lot of other problems. We did LOVE the water park aspect of the place.

We are looking for some suggestions for a large family. We need to have two bedrooms as we have a 19 year old and a 16 year old from her previous marriage plus our three which are 5, 3 and almost 2. Unless we can get adjoining rooms, I do NOT want two separate rooms. Not going to trust that two teenager girls can't get into a heap of trouble with that much freedom.

We looked into Sea Mist and Sea Crest, and between those two are leaning more towards Sea Crest. Any other suggestions? We do NOT want a X block walk to the beach, we want an ocean side hotel. I don't mind walking through the property to get to the beach, but I don't want to have to cross streets or drive to get there. As it is, with all the crap plus personnel, it's hard enough to get to the beach without an additional walk.

Check out Compass Cove. Should be able to find their website on google. I stayed there every July for a weekend for several years up until about 3 years ago. They had 3 or 4 pools, 2 lazy rivers, several hot tubs scattered about. I think they have some water slides now, havent been back but they keep sending me special offers in the mail.

They have several types of rooms from typical hotel rooms to 3 bedroom condos. The condos are where we would stay, fully equipped including cooking stuff, and washer and dryer. Oceanfront too, its near 23rd ave south and ocean blvd so Its down from the main action but not a terrible walk, but it is easier to get your car in and out of to go other places since there is less traffic.

the wife and i stayed here for a few days around new years..... pretty sweet place. rooms were very clean, staff was friendly (breakfast buffet was good too!!). has 2 indoor "waterparks" (slides, pools, lazy rivers, hot tubs, play areas for kids) as well as outdoor pools and mini golf. kitchenettes in rooms, oceanfront. definitely worth looking into.

That said, we're going to Great Wolf Lodge in Concord this summer. I refuse to go to MB on nearly $4/gal gas.
