OK I used to own one, but not in decades. But situation has me in need for one.
I have been spending the 12 hour night shift with my mom, where death is going to happen, just not sure when, but I am sure it's gonna be soon.
I have no clue where to get one, at a decent price. Not wanting to drop hundreds on something I will most likely wear once.
I am in Morganton if that helps with suggestions
So, help please for those who know

Just a suggestion, instead of buying a whole suit since you probably have a good pair of dress pants already and some decent shoes, would be to just go buy a nice dark navy blue sport coat. You may get more use out of it then an entire suit.

I bought my last suit for a funeral of an aunt. I just went to either jc Penny's or belks and bought pants, jacket, tie and dress shirt for less than $300 using online coupons. I don't remember which store because they're both in the same mall here in fayetteville

I have had decent luck for a bare minimum Jacket and pants kind of combo just walking into JCPennys' or the like.....I'm not what you call highly stylish but never been horse laughed that I know of. Sorry to here about your mother. I pray she is comfortable and as ready as a person can be.

If you are really trying to get out as cheap as possible, I would hit up the Goodwill. It is possible they will have a suit or atleast a jacket that fits you.

Otherwise ^^^^^. There's a Men's Warehouse in Hickory now too.

Just talked with my brother. He is in the business world, and he has great fashion sense.
He informed me that Belk has a sale right now. He said sport coats were $39 and to just buy a shirt and tie and a pair of Kaki's (yeah, I know that's misspelled) I have shoes that will go with that, and a belt, so I think I am good to go.
Oh and yeah I will take my daughter with me to pick all of this out.
Thanks everyone

FWIW I just had to do this Monday for my son.

We ended up at Joseph a Bank Paid $235 out the door for Jacket, Pants, Shirt, Tie, Shoes, and alterations.

you mean they don't offer car door twisting Super Hero sizes? An I'll fitting suit might as well be walking around in sloppy pajamas. Luckily I'm fairly average.

Jos a bank is my go-to for something halfway nice, affordable, and that fits well. They have different fit styles from traditional boxy look to a more modern and trendy tailored look

I’ve found really nice stuff at Goodwill as well.

Go to belk. I had to do this not long ago myself... if you're really worried about cost and feel like it you can sign up for their credit card and probably save another $100. Sorry to hear about your mom.

Belk for cheap stuff. If you're a normal sized human (I'm not) can find grey/black Saddlebred suit jackets on clearance for about $80...match up a pair of pants for less than $50...and get one of their Van Heussen combo shirt/tie packs for $30-40. Otherwise I go to Brooks Brothers.

Belk is going away.
FYI

If you buy khaki pants, don't get a casual pant like chinos. Khakis are the type of pant that can make a jacket either look nice or look sloppy/casual, just depending on the particular pant style.

If you get a blue jacket, I'd get olive pants or a darker shade/tint of brown than khaki, instead of khaki. Just my personal preference.

Flat front khakis, properly hemmed, NOT baggy with a tailored sport coat and a matching quality tie and shirt works for most any occasion. Proper fit counts more than anything IMO

Even a slob like me can clean up well in the outfit described by rockcity. Don't underestimate the versatility of a good sport coat.

See about renting one, if it's not something you see yourself using again.

Glad you got a solution.

I picked up a jacket at Goodwill when I started my current job... maybe 8 years ago... has been worth the $25 I paid.

These are good if you want people to see your penis, otherwise not so much.
plus everything else ya got in yer pockets.

Pleats FTW
