This past week I went to uwharrie and got my 03 wrangler lifted 6 in with 35s stuck in a mud puddle I tried to get out of the hole for like 30 mins. When I finally got pulled out the jeep could start but when I threw it into gear and let the clutch out it wouldn't go anywhere it didn't even make any of the engaging noises that it usually makes. The jeep was sunk pretty good It was up to the door handles. Any advice.

several years back i had my tj stuck in a deep hole. I fought like you did about 30 min. Finally the wheels stopped turning. There is a vent hole in the top of an ax15 bellhousing and a little stick got in there and got between the pressure plate and clutch disc as I was shifting into 4th. Smoked the clutch. Which would be my guess as to what happened to yours.

That was my last mudhole.

First off I would change t-case, tranny, and axle fluids. I would guess that your clutch is toast. Stock clutches don't like excessive mud and water.

and soup bowl dont like trucks...........

x2 soupbowl is good for killing things. It probably claimed another clutch.

I hate mud, and stay as far away from it as I can.

My advice to the OP, just like has already been said, change ALL fluids first. Then I would pull all the plugs and make sure they are dry as well; especially if you have already tried starting it.

"stuck in a mud puddle"

I have never seen a mud puddle that will swallow a Jeep on 35's and 6 in lift, I got feeling you were in something a little deeper then a "Mud Puddle".

I have to agreee with every else if you have no pull in any gear your clutch is toast. As everyone else has also said you must change all your fluids before you drive it any where. So it is probably a good thing you killed your clutch it probably saved you from major water damage and a lot more expense then a clutch.

I'd remove the dust shield from the bottom near the oil pan and hose that area out. It may have just got packed up with crap.
Also as said change ALL your fluids.
Wash/hose all the seal areas on your axles/engine and transmission. You might help them from dieing an early death.

How about that mud !!!!

Mud is a nightmare once you get out, it's absolutely horrible. Between the rust and causing everything to need changing, plus it's a good clutch killer like the others said. It looks fun but sadly it's a terrible thing.

people need to realize they need to be prepared if going into deep mud, like snorkel, raise all of their breathers for axles,t-case, transmission and do NOT shift clutch if you get stuck in it.

water/mud to get inside to the clutch, the clutch then swells up like a piece of wet cardboard :shaking: u might get lucky and have mud just caked inside there, if you can wash it out then let the clutch dry before trying to use it it MIGHT work.

I was waiting for someone to say that. 30 minutes of shifting in mud sounds like death
