Lost the Idiots Guide, and since our old TV blew, im trying to get the surround sound on the new one.

I had an Audio in and Out on the old one, and was able to have surround sound for TV and Video games, but this one confuses me. I have what seems to be 2 sets of composite inputs (front and back) and something about sound but I have a Red Green and Blue jack there. What do I do? All I have is 2 sets of Red and Whites...

The RGB jacks of for things like progressive scan dvd players and such, only used in video applications if that helps any.

Well I got the sound to work through the Digital Cable box...

BUT, I cant get it to work with any of the video game systems. I have it plugged up the same way I did on the old set, but the sound doesnt switch to the Video game system, it just stays set on the Cable channel sound.

What you need to do is run an Audio output, from the TV (Red and White) to your surround sound receiver's input. There may also be a way to change this in your TV's settings menu. For example "Turn internal speakers off," or "Variable Audio Output," or "External Audio". If it has Component Video (RGB Cables) I would think it has the ability to do this.

If hooked up properly, then whenever you turn the TV to another input, say from Cable to XBox, it should send the sound signal in through the TV, and back out to the receiver.

Perhaps this may help, maybe not.

I think he's saying the TV doesn't have the red and white outputs.

You might try running the video game throughthe VCR too, (if it's got enough inputs.)

You should have either RCA or a digital audio out.
Even if just 1. Then you could run it into an AVR.

BTW if you can give me the make and model of the TV I have not only installation guides but internal wiring and repair manuals for just about every brand out there. Id be glad to send it to ya if I have it.
