I'm in school for welding so trying to keep her cheap until school is done. If anybody lives around the king area an you know a lot about those things I'll pay you in BEER OR Cash!!! :D

That should be a 1.6l 8v w/ tbi. Webber carb would be going backwards.

I would check to see what gears it has in the diffs. Probly 5.13. You can get deeper gears from other models. You can also do header & 2" pipe. & deeper tcase gears.

Turbo or engine swap are the only real ways to get much hp.

side draft harley carb?, isky cam, header, ported head, Full tune up with wires

Go over to zuwharrie and read up on them. You can do all that, but imo you are going backwards from fuel injection to carb for street driving and offroad.

I have 30s on mine with only 2" exhaust & it does fine. Wish i had crawler gears though

O ok, Thanks sir, what sizes lift do you have ?

The 1.6 8v tbi is a great engine. As the others said.....a weber would be going backwards. You could do a cam, header, underdrive pulley(if they're still made). Remember the old saying......no replacement for displacement!

That is the truth but I don't think a LS1/5.3 would FIT :p

Yeah.....kills the idea of it too.......light weight. Just remember you're only dealing with 80hp.

even with all those mods, you would be lucky to have 100hp at the crank. The tbi is a great setup but without spraying or forced induction you cant built the power out of that engine.... The easiest way to get power under the hood is an engine swap.... a 1.6 16v will get you to 100, you can do the 2.0l or others to get you up higher.

even though it doesnt sounds like much power... with some gearing the zuk with 80hp feels the same as a jeep with 200hp, being light weight is your friend...

I dont really have any lift on mine, but it is hacked up big time... you should be able to clear 31s with 2" lift and trimming.

IIRC 5.13 is as low as the gears go in the track/kicks.
Truthfully, the Weber would probably add more power. I have one on my Sami .... but I WOULD NOT remove the tbi to go to a Weber. They have their own special set of problems.
Like was mentioned .... check out Zuwharrie.com .... I think some of the vendors sell lower tcase gears.

X2. Definitely keep the fuel injection

I believe the vitara has ~5.68 gears.

There was an early Kick with a 1.3 that had 5.83's......prolly like hens teeth.

My brother is running stock 1.6 with yota axles with 5.29 gears on 37 iroks and still uses high range. He does have crawler gears though in the tcase to make it work for difficult trails
