swappin tubes on dana 44

I've seen it done on a few axles, various variety. Done the cuttin an welden for one a few yrs back. Are you plannin to do it the machinist way or the cut, swap, weld it way. DD or trail only?

I guess I wasn't clear, the cheap route is cutting the tubes themselves and swaping sides. The other envolves machining the plug welds pressing the tubes out and in correctlly. Money invested and the desired quality level is usually what make the call. Still, I think a more specific question or questions would lead to a more productive disscusion. I'm not sure what type of info your looking for?

yeah i was going to drill the plug welds and move the complete tubes side to side then take the knuckles back to their original locations so the steering stays in front also would be sure to keep the "c" on its correct angle. i was just just wondering if it had or could be done. thanks for the help.

Ok, good luck and that's the best approach, but I hope you have access to some machining equipment and a very large and very specialized press. If not I'd love to come help and see how your going about the tube removal and repressing it back in. I'm not trying to be smart but what I've rersearched that alone requires some beefy equipment. I do believe some folks like Dyna track will do this as a service but I have no idea at what cost. Post up some pics if you get it figured out, I'd love to learn a feasible way to perform this method of swap.

Edit: Knuckles don't seem to be that hard, I've contemplated that but the tubes in the housing is where the work get tricky.
