I got a question/Curiosity
Why is it that when you post an ad to sell or trade a vehicle, and a trade is proposed and intered is there, why do the deals seem to die...

Either it becomes a matter of genuine interest and pics don't get sent, or requests simply go unnoticed. I'm not pointing fingers but if someone has a vehicle I am interested in, and they show interest back, I am certain to answer any questions, or get pictures to the party interested. If they don't want to trade, just say so. I have 2 on here that I am entertaining the idea of a trade...one I've waited a few months to get pictures and they never have time to get any...another, I offered a trade and they declined. THey reached me and are now interested...I asked for pics as did they. I gave a site to see my pics...and I've heard nothing back...If after seeing pics they are not interested, just tell me...don't delay or make excuses and string me on

I was seriously enertaining a deal with someone with an XJ, but I did let them know that I didn't want to do the deal...chromerunner...did I handle that OK or was I shady about it?
I found another picture of the XJ in question and now I wish I would have done it.

yea i sold it right after you decided to pass and the kid is really happy. that jeep was nicer than my 95 that i baby and love. Best kept 89 ive ever seen (other than the orange peel paint)

But on the other hand i would say you handled it well/let me know you were interested and etc so i could move on and entertain other items.

Now you know why all posts in for sale are required to have a PRICE.

If you want to trade, by all means, trade away, but it better have a price on it if it's posted for sale on the forum.

There are tire kickers galore on this site, I've been asked for pictures of a used SB chevy engine I was selling, guess what, it looks like any other used SB chevy engine you have ever seen. You wanna see it, come on over to the house.

I've had this conversation with many sellers/buyer, IF you are serious about the item, you will find a way to see it in person. PERIOD. If you are 3 hours away, PM the seller and reach an agreement about pix, asking for pix in the sellers ad is TIRE KICKING. If the seller has pix, they'll post them if they see fit.

I've gone an seen a few of the vehicles forsale on this site, did not buy them, but was interested enough to actually go look.

I lost a buy on some tires a few weeks ago because I wasn't able to get over to sellers house in a reasonable amount of time. BUT, I had talked to seller on the phone, he knew it would be tough for me to get there. I loose on that deal.

I kinda wished that had happened to me when I sold my beloved TJ. I posted it up at a reasonable price, a dang if it did'nt sale in 2 days. If it had been 3 days , I would'nt have sold it, cause my work/money situation remedied itself , probably before the buyer got home with it. I wished he(buyer) was just a tire kicker!

I held out for you as long as I could but another member caught me first. Like I said on the phone with you, some people just like to see pics, no matter what it is:beer:

tire kicker :)

Then theres the guys that say they are comming to look then never show up . You wait around all weekend and they don't have the balls to call or post they are not interested. one of those people have posted in this thread.

or, you could just take the not hearing back from the person as a sign of disinterest and move on? either that or email bomb them? or another idea would be to get over it because it happens everyday to every single person in the entire world. i know because i took a worldwide survey.

..... i know because i took a worldwide survey.

Ha ha Nice Fatty, glad you got credentials before you threw that out there. ha ha. Thats the breaks sometimes bud, there are alot of dreamers out there, you just have to distinguish who is the dreamer and who has the money. BS talks but money walks.

And then they show up during the night three days later and take what they want without paying. I had that happen to the tune of $7,000 several years back.

As far as deals go...

It take two to tango. Deals fall through. That's life. I have exchanged pictures and details about stuff and then the deal just doesn't happen. That's fine. To have a deal you have to have a happy buyer and seller.

Or, when selling your wheels and tires, deals are made.. buyer 1 is to come and get the wheels and tires (at a discounted price because I didn't want to split them)... take them back home and split them, and buyer 2 is taking the tires..

Buyer 1 never calls me OR buyer 2 to say he's not coming, and causes buyer 2 to drive 3 hours for nothing.

And still to this day has never apologized to either one of us, nor offered up an excuse for not answering his phone, not calling, etc..

one that got my blood pressure raised a while back.......

I was selling one of my ax-15, and a member on this site, pmed me, and called me....we talked on the phone 3 times, figured out that I would bring the tranny with me to the charlotte car show last year, and he would call and meet me there so he could get it. I confirmed with him that this was still the plan the night prior to leaving for the show. I call the next day while at the show, no answer. I tried calling several times throughout thurs, fri, sat, and sun. Left voicemails, even managed to borrow this girls laptop at a coffee shop near the racetrack, and get on an pm him just in case. I never heard ANYTHING in response. Nothing at all. So I get home, and about a week goes by, I check online to see if he has posted anything since when the deal feel through, and he had, meaning that he had received the pm's, and or voicemails. It didnt really make me mad that I had lost the sale, and that I had turned other people away b/c he was higher in line, and when it fell through, noone else was interested, but its the fact of the matter....let somebody know something

Thats my rant, so i'll get off the podium and go cool off.

I do know that i am guilty of asking for pictures, and throwing an offer out here and there, but i TRY to let the seller know what is going on.
