School me on synthetic winch line. What brand to get, which ones to stay away from, what thickness, and whatever else you can think of.

Dyneema in 3/8"

WL38-TTH

Both ours have Masterpull. 3/8" Superline on one, Superline XD on the other. The XD is super nice.

Shit's gotten expensive, though. Seems like you could buy 100ft of 3/8" for $200 not that long ago.

Agreed, I checked and my Warn Spydura rope was $217 when I bought it two years ago. The same rope is now priced at $330??!?!??! What the heck?

I have Amsteel on the front M8274 and the Warn rope on the rear M8000. The Amsteel is getting really old (it may be eight years old now) and I did have one break near the thimble a few years ago but I re-threaded it and it has not given me any more issues.

Anyone have any thoughts on the WARN Spydura?

I would contact Southeast Overland they use Amsteel Blue Dyneema rope. I think all the Warn rope is made in China.

I will say I watched an ass hat. Break his line 3-4 times trying to jerk his buddy off a rock In tank trap. But then again he'd pull forward 10 ft throw it In reverse and punch it.

I bought a smittybuilt winch with there line on it seems to be holding up great. I don't think uv effects the newer lines as much as the old ones

This thread reminded me again why I love the 8274: It gives no fucks if you load it up with 100ft of 3/8" and then spool it all on one side of the drum.

Y'all with lesser winches might have to consider shorter lengths or thinner ropes.
