T-5 transmission or not?

I am in the process of rebuilding a t-5 standard for my 85'cj-7. When I ran into some problems, I began asking around and looking a web forums. Now my biggest question is wether to continue with my t-5 or put something else in my Jeep. I've seen alot of opinions that say the t-5 is junk. I have a 258 motor. What could I put in in place of the t-5 that would be more reliable and would it slip right in place of the t-5 or would I have to make modifications. All advice and opinions would be appreciated. The T5 is ok for normal use. If you plan to wheel your rig then yes something stronger would be better. Depending on your skills and money situation you have several different options.
